Neil Dunbar, D.M.D.

Dr. Neil Dunbar was born in Pittsburgh, PA, and traveled extensively before settling in Des Moines. After graduating from Bethel Park High School in Bethel Park, PA, he attended Westminster College in New Wilmington, PA, the University of Heidelberg in Germany, and the University of Pittsburgh where he received his degree in Dentistry.

Dr. Dunbar’s postgraduate training included a general practice residency at the Medical Center Hospital of Vermont, in Burlington, VT; an oral and maxillofacial surgery residency at University Hospitals, Cleveland, OH; Chief Resident of the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, OH; Senior Registrar, Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Leeds General Infirmary, Leeds, England; and an Apprenticeship in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in Groningen, Netherlands. During that time Dr. Dunbar received honors in The Daniel F. Lynch Research Competition and received the Owens Fellowship Award. Dr. Dunbar was also a member of the Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society.

Dr. Dunbar began practicing with IOMS in 1994. He has many professional affiliations including the American Dental Association, the Iowa Dental Association, the Des Moines District Dental Society, the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the Midwest Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the Iowa Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, and the G.V. Black Study Club.
