Introduction
Background Information After four years of postgraduate dental education, an oral and maxillofacial surgeon completes four or more years of intensive, postdoctoral, hospital-based surgical residency training. Oral and maxillofacial surgery residents spend significant time rotating through related medical fields such as anesthesiology, general surgery, and internal medicine.
Oral and maxillofacial surgeons specialize in disorders of the mouth, teeth, jaws and facial structures. As oral and maxillofacial surgeons, Doctors Maletta, Reynolds, Dunbar, Jirsa, and Nielsen practice the full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery with expertise. They care for people with wisdom teeth problem and misaligned jaws.
They treat accident victims suffering facial injuries, offering reconstructive and cosmetic solutions. They are concerned about helping children born with poorly shaped jaws and they care for patients with cysts and tumors of the jaws. Doctors Maletta, Reynolds, Dunbar, Jirsa, and Nielsen can also diagnose and treat facial pain, TMJ disorders, and perform a full range of dental implant procedures. Their concern extends to their patients’ total health.
